- Please see the contact us page for our email details and then request to send your script and if deemed a subject we are interested in then we will contact you with an e-mail address for you to forward us your script.
- We only accept scripts in Microsoft Word format.
- Make sure the spaces between words are double spaced and double space the gap between the lines, otherwise it becomes difficult to speed read.
- Supply a synopsis of the whole manuscript and also supply a chapter by chapter synopsis.
- Provide your details in a clear and concise manner, otherwise it will be difficult to contact you. You will be surprised how many manuscripts are sent with no contact details.
- Submit a marketing plan. In regard to a marketing plan, this is an essential part of a proposal; if an author can't produce one that's satisfactory, we won't consider the book for publication. The author has to prove to us that he or she is an authority on the subject, or that he or she has a following to whom the book can be sold, and that he or she understands the importance of participating in marketing efforts willingly. At the same time, the marketing plan has to be credible and realistic. We know what works and what doesn't, so if an author shows naivety or grandiose notions, it's a signal to me that he or she knows less about the market than we do.
- Should you require the manuscript to be returned then always provide a return envelope with full postage on it. Failure to do this will result in your manuscript not being returned, unless of course it is accepted for publication and then we will require more details.
WHEN
NOT TO SEND US YOUR MANUSCRIPT PROPOSAL
- If it is less than 40,000 words, although initlally we do not want to see your full manuscript a synopsis and a few sample chapters usually suffice, but you must have at least 40,000 words ready to send if we request sight of the full manuscript
- If you have previously published your work in any format (e-book, self-published, other publisher's cast offs, etc, etc) then please do not send a proposal for it. We only want fresh work to consider.
- If you have tried lots and lots of publishers and keep receiving rejections then there is obviously a reason for this.
- We no longer
publisher fiction, only non-fiction. If you have a fiction script then
please find a publisher with an interest in this genre.
- Do not send your manuscript to all of the publishers you can find in your search listings, this just wastes your time, postage and printing costs. Far better to locate a willing publisher than a one that simply shreds your manuscript before it has even been read.
- Make up a marketing plan. For example, create a basic outline: say a list of 50 or even 100 contacts, media contacts, local bookstores who have agreed to take your book, where you plan on listing your book etc., it shows the publisher you have done some legwork.
- Besides good content, the most important thing that we want to see is that you have a platform or have the means to promote this book. Be sure you know your market. Who is in it? How big is it? How will you reach them? Be active in social media, like Twitter and Facebook. Have a blog and update it frequently with articles on your subject matter. Write articles for websites, blogs and magazines. We want to know that you are viewed by the media and by potential readers as an expert on your subject matter.
- Don't worry too much about grammar or punctuation, if the subject matter is good then this can be sorted out for you.
- What is important is your enthusiasm, don't send a covering letter saying that you want a £1m advance payment, etc. Provide positive details, say if the piece has won a prize or newsworthy praise.
- Good, careful writing
- An interesting premise and engaging tone
- A new spin on a topic that already sells well
- Subject-matter expertise
- An understanding of marketing and a willingness to do a lot of work in that area
- An established media presence, such as a column or his or her own radio show
- A good attitude and a pleasant, flexible personality

- Assuming you have not approached any other publisher:
- Should you have sent your script to every publisher under the sun, then, please, do not send it to us, we can work wonders but not miracles!
WHAT
WILL IT COST YOU?
- This service
will cost you nothing! Yes, nothing! Only later on, when we
consider your manuscript and decide that we are going to accept it will
it be necessary for you to become worried about that, as that is when we
believe we are worth our commission that we deduct from any payment we
secure for you from a publisher.
POSSIBLE OUTCOMES
- We, ourselves, may take your title on for publication. Please allow up to three months, as we receive up to 1,000 manuscripts per year.
- We may turn down your manuscript
- We are introducing a service, where if we are not prepared to take a chance on your book due to the costs then we may consider offering you an opportunity to share in these costs. After all, producing one title before it even reaches the print stage can run into several thousand pounds. Your book may have merit, and if this is the case then we would ask you to consider this route, although to date none of our books have ever gone down this route, but there is always a first time. But first we have to see some merit in the subject matter you offer us, that is something a vanity publisher would not do ... they would just publish anything and not have a sense of responsibility.
